Lowe’s Woodworkers Shop Class host, Keith Flippen, continues work on the new coffee table. In Part 3, Keith demonstrates how to construct the nesting stool bases. Make sure that you repeat the steps in this video an additional 3 times, as you need a total of 4 stools. Each stool will need 4 frames, 2 stiles and 2 rails, as well and a long and short side of each frame. First, cut the wood to length on the miter saw, adding pocket holes. Then attach rails to the stiles. Once you have the 4 frames (2 long and 2 short), attach with glue and nails. Measure the diagonals to make sure the stool is square. Now, it is time to fill in the empty spaces with 4 side panels, 4 end panels and 2 bottom panels. Cut these pieces to width with the table saw and then to length with the miter saw. Focus first on the end and side panels, inserting them to the frames with glue and brands. Then, add cleats to hold the bottom panels in. Put the long cleats flush with the bottom of the end panels using glue and brads. Do the same with the short cleats, but on the other sides. Finally, attach the bottom panels with glue and brads. One of them is going into my room to replace the first one I sold, the second one is supposed to go to some art show, and the third one will be auctioned off to help fund my next project which will cost me much much more than these cost me to make.

It features a beautiful large enamel dial with fine blued steel hands. To the sides are red velvet backed sound frets, finely detailed, to enable the sonorous gong strike to be fully appreciated. The caddy top is draped with floral swags. The French movement by Fritz Marti and is of the highest quality. It is the large plate version of the Pendule de Paris movement and has the superior rack striking and pin-pallet escapement. It is complete with it’s original pendulum. We have dismantled the movement, fully cleaned and overhauled it, fitted two new springs and test it thoroughly until satisfied that it runs perfectly. Further, as the number of consumer electronics in modern homes increases, people are often forced to switch between many controllers to interact with these devices. To simplify interaction with these devices and to enable more collaborative forms of device control, we propose an integrated remote control system, called CRISTAL (Control of Remotely Interfaced Systems using Touch-based Actions in Living spaces). CRISTAL enables people to control a wide variety of digital devices from a centralized, interactive tabletop system that provides an intuitive, gesture-based interface that enables multiple users to control home media devices through a virtually augmented video image of the surrounding environment. A preliminary user study of the CRISTAL system is presented, along with a discussion of future research directions.
